All Aboard! The Train is here! The “model” train that is.
Do you know the role our very own Villa Mira Monte and the railroads played in the naming of our town?
Do you know the name of the first railroad that ran through Morgan Hill? (Just a hint - It wasn’t the Southern Pacific.)
Have you ever heard of the train stop at Perry?
Well, come to the Morgan Hill Museum and discover the answers to these queries and many others through our special exhibit on the first railroad of Morgan Hill. We also have an “O” gauge model train up and running along with one of the original Morgan Hill depot signs, several actual 1890’s telegrams sent from San Francisco to Morgan Hill, and a 1901 advertisement inviting colonist to “...not overlook the claims of Morgan Hill” when selecting a site for their new home.
The exhibit will run from Nov. 23 to Jan. 12, during our regular open hours of Fridays from 1 to 3 and Saturdays from 10 to 1. What a great way to entertain out of town guests! Stop by and share the town’s heritage before heading downtown for shopping or a meal.
